Writing a strong Welder CV
Hiring managers for welding roles look for clear evidence that you can produce sound, repeatable welds in the environment they operate in, whether that is structural steel, pipe, pressure vessels, shipbuilding, automotive, or repair work. Your CV should name the processes you use, such as MIG, TIG, stick, flux-cored arc welding, and oxy-fuel cutting, along with materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. - List the welding processes and positions you are qualified for, such as 1G to 6G pipe, vertical-up stick, TIG root passes, or FCAW structural work. This helps employers match you quickly to the exact job requirements.
- Include the codes, standards, and inspection methods you have worked to, such as AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, visual inspection, dye penetrant, ultrasonic testing support, or pressure testing. Weld quality matters as much as production speed.
- Describe the fabrication setting and materials, including plate thicknesses, pipe schedules, stainless or aluminium work, and whether you used drawings, jigs, fixtures, or CNC-cut parts. Specific shop and site details make your experience easier to trust.
